Read aloud in the k-1 classroom as part of an integrated unit of study

A playful, rhyming text that introduces readers to the life cycle of the frog-- "Round and spotted, polka-dotted, eggs aboard a bubble boat--Watch them dip and dive and float"--and how every living thing changes as it grows. This would be great for reading aloud in the k-1 classroom- lots of opportunities to play with language as well as learn content--for fun or as part of a unit of study. Would pair nicely with Fabulous Frogs by Martin Jenkins.

A cool growing up tale that occurs in a pond....

This picture book with its double spread pages is all about the process that occurs in a pond and ultimately results in a frog hopping about. First there are the "polka-dotted eggs", then little critters emerge with "splish-splashing tails" before the four-footed frogs begin hopping about.
The rhymed text makes this a growing up story smaller children can easily follow and the author doesn't let the biological science get in the way or cause confusion (the child can figure that part out later). So have fun with the catchy narrative and humorous, cartoon like illustrations as you watch the tadpole to frog transformation take place. For children three years of age and older.....enjoy!
